Install your LED neon sign, step by step

A Helioneon neon sign goes up like a large frame: a few holes, some standoffs and a socket, no electrician needed.

What you receive

Everything you need for mounting is included. No paper template is supplied: the sign's pre-drilled acrylic backing is your template.

Screws, wall plugs and standoffs

To fix the sign a few centimetres from the wall, for a floating effect.

12 V transformer

Works on 100 to 240 V, with 1.5 m of clear cable on the sign side and 1.5 m of black cable on the plug side.

Remote and dimmer

To switch on, switch off and adjust the brightness from a distance.

What you need: A drill with a bit suited to your wall, a pencil, a spirit level, a screwdriver and a tape measure. For a sign wider than 80 cm, ask a second person to help.

Step by step

Installation in 5 steps

Choose the spot

Find a socket within 3 m (1.5 m of cable to the transformer, then 1.5 m to the socket). Make sure no electrical cable or pipe runs through the wall at that spot.

Tip: Place the centre of the sign around 150 to 170 cm from the floor, or 20 to 30 cm above a piece of furniture or a headboard.

Mark the holes using the sign

Hold the sign against the wall, level it with the spirit level, then mark the wall with a pencil through each hole in the backing. The sign itself is your template.

Tip: For a large sign, one person holds it while the other marks the holes.

Drill and fit the wall plugs

Set the sign aside, drill at each mark with a suitable bit (wood, plaster or masonry), then push the wall plugs in flush with the wall.

Fix the standoffs and the sign

Screw the base of each standoff into its wall plug. Place the backing on the standoffs, then screw the caps on by hand, without forcing, so the acrylic does not crack.

Plug in and switch on

Connect the sign to the transformer, then the transformer to the socket. Switch on and adjust the brightness with the remote.

Tip: Run the cable along a skirting board or behind furniture, and leave the transformer in open air, not enclosed.

Other options

Hanging, freestanding or outdoors

Hanging

For a shop window, a ceiling or a stand, the sign can come with a steel cable hanging kit, on request. The cables go through the holes in the backing.

Freestanding

For a counter, a shelf or an event, the sign can come on removable feet, on request. No drilling needed.

Outdoors

Choose the outdoor IP65 version. Keep the transformer and the socket sheltered from rain, for example under an awning or indoors.

FAQ

Installation FAQ

Do I need an electrician?

No. The sign runs on low-voltage 12 V and plugs into a standard socket with the supplied transformer. There is no wiring to do.

Is a drilling template supplied?

No, and you do not need one: the acrylic backing is pre-drilled. Hold the sign against the wall and mark the holes with a pencil through the backing.

How long does installation take?

Wall mounting stays quick, drilling included. On feet or with a hanging kit, it is even simpler.

Which walls can it be fixed to?

Plaster, plasterboard, brick, concrete or wood: you just need a drill bit and wall plugs suited to the wall. For tiles or glass, contact us before mounting.

Does the sign get hot?

No. The LEDs stay cool and use little power. You can leave the sign on for hours without any risk.

How do I clean my sign?

Unplug it, then wipe the tube and the backing with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Never use abrasives or alcohol on the acrylic.
